What is Demisexuality?
Demisexuality is the sexual attraction that occurs only when there’s an emotional bond.
If you consider having an emotional bond as a prerequisite for sex, then you are likely demisexual.
Are you not feeling like having sex? Then you probably haven’t found someone you’re bonded with.
Can’t imagine sleeping with someone you don’t have an emotional bond with? Then you are not alone with it.
In demisexuality, it’s about having sex only with someone with whom one has built a close relationship.
Demisexuality – Physical attraction comes later
Demisexuals cannot imagine having sex with a stranger and that is not because it was instilled in them or because it is a defect, it simply does not make them want to be touched more intensely.
Physical attraction only comes when an intense bond has already been established.
Demisexuals need an emotional bond to be able to allow intimacy and sexual intercourse.
These are common prejudices that demisexuals struggle with. Many do not even know that there is a term for their behavior.
So it does not mean that people are prudish, but only that a deeper basis must be built with the other person before they indulge in the desire for a romantic relationship.
Find out if you are demisexual
If you answered ‘no’ to the following questions, then it is very likely that you are demisexual too.
Then you should remember that everything is fine with you. Many people need to bond with the person before they have sex.
- How often do you find a stranger attractive?
There are clear characteristics that indicate that someone is demisexual. Especially when the crush on well-known personalities is gone.
- Are you having a hard time not having sex for a long time?
- Have you ever had sex with someone you weren’t in love with?
- Is sex one of the most important issues in a relationship for you?
- Has a stranger ever made you tingle?
- Do you have sexual fantasies with strangers from time to time
- Are there any celebrities that you find extremely attractive?
Demisexuality – Sex is important, but not everything
Demisexuals set their priorities differently. This means that they want to get to know a person and establish an emotional bond before opening up to them completely.
If there is no strong bond with someone for a while, then you can safely do without sex.
Therefore, the classic spring fever doesn’t help either. However, they are not prudish or asexual because of this.
